The Spirit Festival Beyond belief
The conflicts of the world don't stay where they are. They move into our cities, into our streets, to our tables, into us.
That road runs both ways. Peace starts inside you. Then the person next to you. Then your street. Then your city. And it doesn't stay where it starts.
Religious traditions have been doing this for centuries. Small, concrete acts that restore peace. Artists give them a new form. So can you. In 13 places of worship. More than 60 programmes focused on one theme: Acts for Peace.
Peace is not an opinion. It is something you do.
That's the Spirit of Amsterdam.
Agenda
The Spirit is a platform for people who still believe the world holds wonder. We develop programs that inspire contemplation and connection in religious and heritage spaces that sheltered human hope for centuries.
What began as a festival is growing into a year-round platform for encounters and new perspectives—taking shape through three distinct offerings.

A NOTE FROM THE FOUNDERS
We do believe in something.
Something in this city has hardened. Communities share a street and never meet. And we are getting used to it.
There are places in Amsterdam where that stops. Where you slow down. Where something catches you off guard. Where an old idea suddenly makes sense. Where you sit next to someone you would never have met.
Churches, mosques, synagogues and temples. Centuries old, and built for exactly this.
Believe it or not.
Come in.
Peace,
Robert-Jan Glas en Roel van Reenen

We hebben leren sporten, denken en presteren.
Maar wanneer hebben wij bezield leren leven?
Een nieuw initiatief van The Spirit: The Spirit School.

We cannot do this alone. Four days, thirteen houses of worship, over sixty events—it all relies on people getting involved.
Whether you’d like to volunteer during the festival, create something, offer a venue, share a ritual, or get involved as a sponsor or partner, please let us know using the form opposite.
We read every message, and you will always receive a reply.
